The Catholic Independent Schools of Kamloops Diocese (CISKD) operates 6 schools — two K-12 schools (one of which is a distance learning school that serves families across the province) as well as four K-7 ‘brick and mortar’ schools serving the southern interior of BC.
Our ‘brick and mortar’ schools serve a large region from Quesnel to Vernon. STEP ONE
APPLICATION
All Applicants Must Submit:
1. Cover Letter Addressed to the CISKD Superintendent of Schools- sharing the reason you wish to serve in the CISKD school of choice; Teacher Applicants are asked to include their philosophy of Catholic education in the cover letter.
2. CISKD Application Form (Teacher or Support Worker)
3. Brief Resume
4. Post-Secondary Transcripts (if education/training/certification applicable)
5. Copy of Relevant Position-Specific Certifications
6. Most Recent Report from Employer or Supervisor
Catholic Applicants Must Provide Copies of:
1.Certificate of Catholic Baptism or RCIA Certification
2.Certificate of Catholic Marriage (if applicable)
3.Confidential Catholic Pastoral Reference Form (submitted to CISKD Office by Catholic Pastor)
Non-Catholic Applicants must provide copies of:
1.Certificate of Marriage (if applicable)
2.Non-Catholic Pastoral Reference – for Teacher, Office Support, or Education Assistant applications (Regular or On Call), completed and submitted to CISKD Office by Catholic pastor of the school to which one is applying.
If offered employment, the following documentation will be required:
- A Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
- Copy of Social Insurance Card
- Copy of Canadian Birth Certificate or Passport (for employment eligibility)
- Statement of Teaching Experience (for Teachers with previous teaching experience in accredited Canadian Schools)

STEP TWO
Preliminary Interview
All applicants wishing to work in the CISKD must first be approved by the Superintendent’s Office. A preliminary interview with the Superintendent may be arranged once all documents are received. PLEASE NOTE: Only applicants that have been approved by the CISKD Office can be interviewed locally for employment consideration or as a contracted instructionally-related service provider.
STEP THREE
School Selection Committee Interviews
Principals, Pastors and School Council Representatives of individual schools form the School Selection Committee and interview eligible applicants obtained from the Superintendent’s Office. In some circumstances, a Principal may conduct a local preliminary interview with the candidate. Shortlisted applicants for employment will be recalled for a second interview with the school’s Selection Committee.
STEP FOUR
POSITION OFFERED
Of the short-listed applicants, the school Selection Committee recommends the candidate of choice for hire to the Superintendent of Schools who provides the offer of employment and coordinates the contract with the candidate of choice. Once a signed contract is received in the Office of the Superintendent, the school contacts the shortlisted interviewed candidates to inform them that the position has been filled.
TEACHER ON CALL
We are actively seeking talented individuals interested in Teacher On Call work in Quesnel, Williams Lake, Kamloops and Vernoon. In some circumstances, it is possible for a non-degreed applicant to serve as a Teacher on Call. Teachers on Call applicants follow the same procedures for casual employment with a CISKD school.
EDUCATION ASSISTANT ON CALL
We are also actively seeking talented individuals interested in Education Assistant On Call work in Quesnel, Williams Lake, Kamloops and Vernon. In some circumstances, it is possible for an uncertified candidate to serve as an Education Assistant on Call. Education Assistants on Call applicants follow the same procedures for casual employment with CISKD.
